South Africa Edge New Zealand By 19 Runs In Fourth T20, Series Tied 2-2

South Africa produced a well-rounded performance to secure a 19-run win over New Zealand in the fourth T20 in Wellington, bringing the five-match contest back to parity at 2-2. The result ensures that the teams will decide the series in the final match in Christchurch on March 25.

New Zealand chased a target of 165 but failed to handle sustained pressure from the South African bowlers, who dismissed them for 145 in 18.5 overs.

Tim Robinson led the scoring with 32 runs, while Dane Cleaver contributed 26, but the rest of the batting order struggled to make an impact.

South Africa’s bowling unit controlled the match effectively, with Gerald Coetzee taking three wickets. Ottneil Baartman, P Subrayen, and Keshav Maharaj each claimed two wickets, while Wiaan Mulder added one to complete a clinical effort.

Esterhuizen Anchors Competitive Total

After choosing to bat first, South Africa posted 164/5 in their allotted overs. Connor Esterhuizen played a key role with a fluent 57 from 36 balls, striking three sixes and seven fours.

Tony de Zorzi added 23, Rubin Hermann made 28, and both Dian Forrester and Jason Smith contributed 19 runs apiece.

New Zealand’s bowling effort saw Kyle Jamieson take two wickets, while Zakary Foulkes, Benjamin Sears, and Cole McConchie picked up one each.

With the series now evenly poised, the teams will meet in Christchurch on March 25 for the decisive fifth T20.

At the same time, South Africa’s women’s team, also competing in New Zealand, has already lost its T20 series after the hosts secured an unassailable 3-1 lead. Their final match is scheduled to take place at the same venue.

As the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 approaches, teams are actively engaging in T20 series, including Australia’s ongoing tour of the West Indies, to fine-tune their preparations.
