Shubman Gill Hits Fifty As India Beat Prime Minister’s XI By Six Wickets In Pink-Ball Warm-Up

Shubman Gill, returning from a left thumb injury, top-scored with 50 runs. India defeated Prime Minister’s XI by six wickets in a 50-over pink-ball warm-up match at Manuka Oval on Sunday. Shubman faced 62 balls and hit seven boundaries, showcasing his stroke play ahead of the second Test against Australia, which starts on December 6 at Adelaide Oval.

Earlier, fast-bowling all-rounder Harshit Rana impressed with figures of 4-44, helping India bowl out Prime Minister’s XI for 240 in 43.2 overs. Sam Konstas top-scored for the hosts, making a solid 107 off 97 balls, including 14 fours and a six. He was named Player of the Match for his efforts.

India’s chase was anchored by Gill, supported by Yashasvi Jaiswal (45), Nitish Reddy (42), Washington Sundar (42 not out), and Ravindra Jadeja (27). India reached 257/5 in 46 overs, with 19 balls to spare.

Although Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant did not bat, India would be pleased with the performance of Jaiswal and Rahul during a tricky twilight period against the pink ball. Rohit Sharma, however, was dismissed for three off 11 balls.

Prime Minister’s XI struggled early, losing opener Matthew Renshaw for five and Jayden Goodwin for a duck. India’s bowlers made early inroads, reducing the hosts to 22/2 after 5.5 overs.

Konstas and Jack Clayton (40) put on a 109-run partnership, but Rana’s spell shifted the momentum in India’s favor. Rana removed Clayton, Ollie Davies, Jack Edwards, and Sam Harper, leaving the PM’s XI at 138/7.

Konstas found another reliable partner in Hanno Jacobs, who made 61. However, after Konstas reached his century, he was dismissed by Akash Deep, and Jacobs was out to Washington Sundar, ending the PM’s XI innings.
