Shikhar Dhawan Announces Retirement From International Cricket And IPL

Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has officially announced his retirement from all formats of international cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL) after an illustrious career spanning over a decade.

Popularly known as “Gabbar,” Dhawan celebrate for his explosive batting and charismatic presence on the field. Making his international debut in 2010, Dhawan quickly established himself as a vital player in the Indian cricket team, contributing significantly to numerous victories across all formats.

In his retirement announcement, Dhawan expressed deep gratitude for his cricketing journey. “Representing my country on the international stage has been an incredible honor, and wearing the Indian jersey will always hold a special place in my heart,” Dhawan said. “I am deeply thankful to everyone who has supported me—my family, friends, teammates, coaches, and especially the fans who have been an incredible part of my journey.”

Dhawan’s Career Highlights

Dhawan’s career highlights include his outstanding performance in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, where he earned the “Mr. ICC” tag as the tournament’s best player. Known for his success in limited-overs cricket, Dhawan made history as the first player to hit back-to-back centuries in the IPL and holds the record for the most fours in the tournament. He also made a mark by captaining both the Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, a unique achievement in the league.

Looking ahead, Dhawan plans to focus on his business ventures, including his role with the “DaOne Group” and his ownership of the Delhi Premier League team, South Delhi Superstars. He is also set to continue his work in the fitness and lifestyle industries, with past ventures including a chain of fitness centers, a sports equipment line, and a wellness brand promoting healthy living.
