The organisers have revealed a strong group of marquee players for the upcoming Sher-e-Punjab T20 League, with several established Punjab cricketers set to feature.
India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill, dynamic all-rounder Abhishek Sharma and left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh will lead the list. Wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh, Ramandeep Singh and promising pacer Gurnoor Brar have also secured marquee status.
The tournament will begin on August 30 and conclude on September 13 at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali.
More than 450 players from across Punjab will enter Sunday’s auction, creating an opportunity for emerging cricketers to share the spotlight with established players.
The Fazilka Falcons will feature Gill in their squad, while Abhishek Sharma will turn out for the Amritsar Soormas.
Arshdeep Singh will represent the Ludhiana Lions, with Prabhsimran Singh joining the Jalandhar Warriors.
Ramandeep Singh will lead the marquee contingent of the Mohali Kings, while Gurnoor Brar will play for the Bathinda Royals.
Several prominent Punjab players are expected to raise the competition’s profile. Their involvement will also give young cricketers an important platform to demonstrate their abilities.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the state has a long history of producing outstanding cricketing talent.
Mann described the league as an important pathway for young players to develop their skills and gain exposure. He said the participation of Gill, Abhishek and Arshdeep could encourage aspiring cricketers throughout Punjab.
The Chief Minister added that Punjab aims to nurture players who can eventually earn opportunities to represent India at the highest level.
PCA Secretary Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer welcomed the marquee player announcement and called it a promising start to the new season.
Hayer said accomplished players would give upcoming cricketers an opportunity to learn from experienced professionals. He added that they could develop their skills while competing in a demanding environment.
