India defeated Zimbabwe by eight wickets in the third and final ODI at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara on Wednesday, completing a 3-0 series sweep. Chasing 132, the hosts reached 133/2 in just 17 overs, with 33 overs remaining.
Shafali Verma smashed an unbeaten 51 off 26 balls, while Pratika Rawal remained not out on 59 to secure a commanding victory.
Shafali brought up her half-century in 26 deliveries, equalling Richa Ghosh’s record against New Zealand at Queenstown in 2022 for the second-fastest ODI fifty by an Indian woman. Smriti Mandhana holds the record with a 23-ball half-century against Australia in Delhi in 2025.
The 22-year-old also improved on her previous best of a 29-ball fifty, which she had recorded earlier in the series against Zimbabwe.
India lost Yastika Bhatia for a second-ball duck before Harleen Deol contributed 19 off 19 deliveries. Shafali then joined Pratika, and the pair dominated the chase with an unbeaten partnership.
Earlier, Zimbabwe managed 131 in 39.5 overs after choosing to bat first. Vaishnavi Sharma led India’s bowling attack with figures of 5-39, claiming her maiden five-wicket haul in ODIs.
Sayali Satghare took 2-11, while Kranti Gaud finished with 2-23. Modester Mupachikwa top-scored for Zimbabwe with 37, followed by Josephine Nkomo’s 35 and Chiedza Dhururu’s 20.
The victory extended India’s winning run after their T20I series success. Zimbabwe finished the tour without a win in either format.
