Sciver-Brunt, Freya Kemp Rescue England With Unbeaten Stand In T20 World Cup Final

Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt anchored England’s innings with an unbeaten 58 as the hosts posted 150/4 in 20 overs against Australia’s women’s national cricket team in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 final at Lord’s on Sunday.

After Australia elected to bowl, England lost Amy Jones (6) and Danni Wyatt-Hodge (8) cheaply before finishing the powerplay at 39/2. Sciver-Brunt steadied the innings before Alice Capsey added 23 off 20 balls. Capsey and Heather Knight (2) departed in quick succession, leaving England at 68/3 after 10 overs and later 70/4.

Sciver-Brunt rebuilt the innings patiently before accelerating in the closing overs alongside Freya Kemp, who remained unbeaten on 44 off 28 deliveries with four fours and a six.

England crossed the 100-run mark in the 15th over before Sciver-Brunt completed her half-century in 45 balls, becoming the first England player to score a fifty in both a Women’s T20 World Cup semifinal and final. She finished unbeaten on 58 off 53 balls with five boundaries as the unbroken partnership guided England to a competitive total of 150/4.

For Australia, Kim Garth, Lucy Hamilton, Annabel Sutherland and captain Sophie Molineux claimed one wicket each.

Brief Scores

England 150/4 in 20 overs (Nat Sciver-Brunt 58*, Freya Kemp 44*, Alice Capsey 23; Lucy Hamilton 1/19, Kim Garth 1/20) against Australia.
