Sanju Samson’s Unbeaten 87 Powers CSK To Eight-Wicket Win Over DC In IPL 2026

A commanding unbeaten 87 from Sanju Samson powered Chennai Super Kings to an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals in match 48 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday.

The win took CSK to 10 points, keeping them sixth in the standings, just two points behind the tightly packed top five.

Earlier, disciplined bowling led by Akeal Hosein and Noor Ahmad restricted DC to 155/7 on a surface offering grip and turn.

Chasing 156, CSK started cautiously before Samson took control with a mix of timing and power, striking seven fours and six sixes. He found strong support from Kartik Sharma, who remained unbeaten on 41, as the duo stitched an unbroken 114-run partnership off 66 balls.

Despite early pressure from bowlers like Mitchell Starc, Axar Patel and Lungi Ngidi, CSK maintained composure. The only early setback came when Ruturaj Gaikwad fell attempting a flick shot.

Samson accelerated as the pitch eased, taking on spinners and pacers alike. He reached his fifty in 32 balls and continued his onslaught with calculated aggression, dismantling the DC attack.

DC had moments of promise, with Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel trying to apply pressure, while KL Rahul effected a sharp stumping earlier in the innings. They, however, failed to break the Samson-Sharma stand.

Earlier, DC’s innings was anchored by Sameer Rizvi (40 not out) and Tristan Stubbs (38), but lacked momentum against CSK’s disciplined bowling unit.

In the end, CSK chased down the target in 17.3 overs with 15 balls to spare, sealing a clinical win and strengthening their position in the tournament.
