The knockout stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is set to begin with a blockbuster semi-final between the South Africa national cricket team and the New Zealand national cricket team at Eden Gardens.
South Africa entered the contest brimming with confidence after defeating New Zealand by seven wickets during their group-stage meeting in Ahmedabad on 14 February.
The Proteas capped off a flawless Super 8 campaign with a five-wicket victory over Zimbabwe, finishing top of their group with three wins from three matches.
New Zealand will aim to avenge their earlier defeat and end South Africa’s unbeaten run in the tournament.
The Black Caps finished second in Group 1 and now seek a place in their first T20 World Cup final since 2021. In that edition, they reached the final but lost by eight wickets to Australia at the Dubai International Stadium.
With both teams showing consistency and depth, the semi-final promises a fiercely contested battle.
England will take on India in the second semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 5 March, while organisers will stage the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 8 March.
Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host the South Africa vs New Zealand semi-final.
The match will start at 7:00 PM IST (1:30 PM GMT), and officials will conduct the toss 30 minutes before the first ball.
The Star Sports Network will broadcast the semi-final live across India.
Fans can watch the live stream on the JioHotstar app and website.
