Ravichandran Ashwin: Unfazed by External Opinions After Triumph Against England

Ravichandran Ashwin showcased his mastery throughout the Test series against England by continuously fine-tuning his bowling arsenal, a testament to his adaptability and determination. Playing his 100th Test in Dharamsala, Ashwin emerged as the leading wicket-taker of the five-match series, clinching a remarkable 26 wickets.

Reflecting on his performance, Ashwin highlighted the significance of experimentation while remaining impervious to external opinions. “Throughout the series, I experimented with different actions, speeds, and releases, recognizing the unique challenges posed by each ground in India,” he shared during the post-match presentation. “I remain unfazed by external perceptions, prioritizing my growth and evolution as a cricketer.”

Embracing a mindset of continuous improvement, Ashwin emphasized the importance of incorporating new dimensions into his bowling repertoire. “I believe in exploring new avenues without hesitation. By remaining receptive to constructive feedback, I’ve cultivated a culture of learning and growth,” he explained. “Experimentation has been instrumental in my journey, enabling me to adapt to various situations effectively.”

Ashwin singled out his exceptional spells, particularly his performances in Dharamsala and Ranchi, as personal highlights of the series. “I was particularly pleased with the rhythm and control I exhibited during these spells,” he remarked. “In India, the artistry lies in understanding the nuances of the game, such as setting up batsmen strategically, as exemplified by my dismissal of Ollie Pope in Ranchi.”

Furthermore, Ashwin commended the remarkable progress of his teammate, left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who secured 19 wickets across four Tests. “Kuldeep’s remarkable control and versatility have been a delight to witness,” Ashwin remarked. “His ability to adapt and innovate throughout the series is a testament to his talent and dedication. I couldn’t be happier for him.”
