Whenever the name Rinku Singh is mentioned among cricket fans, it evokes memories of his remarkable feat in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) match, where he smashed five consecutive sixes against the Gujarat Titans. Now, playing for the Meerut Mavericks in the UP T20 league, Rinku has once again showcased his prowess, this time in a Super Over decider, where he clinched victory with three consecutive sixes.
Facing off against the Kashi Rudras, Meerut Mavericks found themselves in a Super Over showdown with 17 runs needed for victory. Rinku Singh rose to the occasion, taking on left-arm spinner Shiva Singh. While the first ball didn’t yield any runs, Rinku’s next three deliveries changed the game’s outcome.
Rinku powered the second ball of the over for a six over long-off. This Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star, who has also made his international debut for India, followed it up with another maximum hit at deep mid-wicket. Rinku sealed the win with a final six over long-off.
Interestingly, in the 20-over-per-side contest earlier in the match, Rinku had struggled, scoring just 15 runs off 22 balls. Despite this, the Meerut franchise entrusted him with the Super Over, and he delivered spectacularly.
Rinku, who has now made his India debut in the T20 format, is set to represent the national team in the upcoming Asia Games later this month. His Super Over heroics in the UP T20 league reflect his consistency and ability to shine in high-pressure situations, reminiscent of his IPL success.
