Kranti Gaud’s journey from a small tribal village in Madhya Pradesh to India’s women’s cricket team reflects remarkable determination and family sacrifice.
Hailing from Ghuwara village in Chhatarpur district, Kranti grew up as the youngest of six siblings. She began playing tennis-ball cricket with boys in her village. Those early matches helped sharpen her fast bowling and strengthened her ambition to pursue cricket.
Kranti’s family faced financial challenges, making a sporting career difficult to sustain. Her father worked as a police constable. Yet her family continued supporting her dream. Her mother even sold her jewellery to buy Kranti a cricket kit.
Kranti later received better training and represented Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket. Her consistent performances eventually earned her a place in the Indian women’s team.
Gaud became part of India’s 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup-winning squad, taking her journey from a village ground to the international stage. Her six-wicket performance against England in an ODI further established her as a promising fast bowler.
The biggest chapter came in July 2026 at Lord’s.
During the women’s Test against England, Kranti claimed five wickets in the first innings and played an important role in India’s 270-run victory. Her performance earned her a place in the history of women’s Tests at the iconic venue.
Kranti’s rise goes beyond cricket. The journey that began with a kit bought through her mother’s sacrifice has reached one of the sport’s most celebrated grounds.
Kranti Gaud’s story continues to inspire girls from rural communities to pursue sporting dreams despite limited resources.
