The legendary MS Dhoni has had a profound impact on a great number of people and continues to do so today. Those who have been in his presence are highly familiar with his aura and manner of conduct. There are several tales of him, and Aakash Chopra, a former Indian batter, recently narrated one of them.
The former cricketer-turned-commentator remembered a time when he realized that Dhoni was destined for better things. When the India A team visited Zimbabwe and Kenya in 2004, Dinesh Karthik was in front of Dhoni in the hierarchy.
Chopra was a little taken aback when he saw Dhoni bowl to Karthik in the practice nets. He went and questioned Dhoni about why he was bowling to Karthik rather than batting.
Chopra was taken back by Dhoni’s response, which revealed to the latter how he approaches game analysis.
India A’s trip to Kenya and Zimbabwe took place in the year 2004. Dinesh Karthik played in the starting XI, and MS Dhoni served as the backup keeper. I once questioned Dhoni, while he was bowling to Karthik in the nets, “Why are you bowling to him? He is a direct rival of yours. You are left from the starting XI if he performs well. You should work on your keeping or hitting. Why do you bowl? ‘Please don’t stop me,’ Dhoni responded. I’d want to bowl. In a video posted to Twitter, Chopra added, “If you want to bat, you can, and I will bowl to you as well.
