Mohammed Shami Stumps Reporter With Response To Playing XI Question, Says “Beyond My Comprehension”

Mohammed Shami has recently had his playing time in the 50-over format reduced by the Indian team management, which he is not used to. But when Shami was included in the starting lineup for the first ODI against Australia, the veteran bowler picked up five wickets, displaying his prowess and abilities admirably. While no player appreciates being on the sidelines, Shami noted that even when he was part of the starting lineup, certain players were left out.

“There must have been someone who had to sit out while I played frequently, and I wasn’t at fault. Therefore, Mohammed Shami said to reporters at a press conference following India’s victory over Australia in the first ODI on Friday, “You can’t feel low if you are sitting out because the team is winning.

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will be the two front-line pacers for India when it competes at full strength in the 2019 World Cup, according to the team management.

However, Shami claimed that rotation is not a negative thing when you play so many matches back-to-back, following his match-winning stats of 5 for 51.

“The team has a plan, and it’s crucial to follow it. You can’t always be in the starting lineup because a lot depends on the makeup of the team, according to Shami.

“If you play, that’s great; if you’re not in the starting XI, you should still support the players. Shami avoided saying anything that may even appear remotely contentious, saying instead, “I think there is no point in feeling bad, and I am ready to play the role the team gives me.

He was also questioned about his opinion of the rotational rule that requires him to take a break.

“What you are trying to know is beyond my comprehension, but obviously when you build a team, (the) coach has a role to rotate players and, based on the situation, it is decided,” Shami added with a mischievous smile.

He emphasized that it is wise to rotate players before a major tournament like the World Cup.
