KKR vs GT: Cameron Green’s 79 In Vain As Late Collapse Restricts KKR To 180

IPL 2026: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) posted 180 in their 20 overs against Gujarat Titans (GT) in their IPL 2026 clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday, despite a strong knock from Cameron Green that was overshadowed by a late collapse.

Green top-scored with 79 off 55 balls, striking seven fours and four sixes, but KKR lost their last six wickets for just 33 runs to fall short of a bigger total.

Put in to bat, Kolkata Knight Riders suffered an early setback. Mohammed Siraj dismissed skipper Ajinkya Rahane for a golden duck in the opening over.

Kagiso Rabada then removed Angkrish Raghuvanshi, while Tim Seifert’s dismissal left KKR struggling at 32/3 inside four overs.

A recovery began with Rovman Powell, who scored 27 off 20 balls. He added a 55-run stand with Cameron Green to stabilise the innings.

Powell’s departure brought Anukul Roy to the crease. He combined effectively with Green in a rapid 60-run partnership off just 23 balls.

Green, initially cautious, accelerated after reaching 27 off 29 balls, taking on the spinners and scoring freely. His aggressive strokeplay lifted KKR from 87/4 to 139/4 in quick time.

The innings unravelled after Prasidh Krishna dismissed Jason Roy in the 15th over. Rabada struck again to remove Rinku Singh, while Ramandeep Singh fell soon after during a brief attacking spell.

In the closing overs, wickets fell in quick succession, with Green largely stranded at the non-striker’s end. He managed just four runs off his last 11 deliveries and eventually fell on the final ball of the innings, caught behind off Rashid Khan.

Rabada finished with figures of 3-33, leading GT’s bowling effort, while Siraj and Prasidh Krishna provided crucial support. Ashok Sharma and Rashid Khan proved expensive but picked up key wickets.

From a position where 200 seemed likely, Kolkata Knight Riders finished on 180. The total may be below par on a batting-friendly surface.

Brief Scores: Kolkata Knight Riders 180 in 20 overs (Cameron Green 79, Rovman Powell 27; Kagiso Rabada 3-29, Mohammed Siraj 2-23) against Gujarat Titans
