Kiwi Pacer Matt Henry ruled out of ICC Men’s CWC 2023

Star pacer Matt Henry injury has severely harmed New Zealand’s bowling unit going into the 2023 World Cup. Henry hurt his right hamstring during Wednesdy’s game between South Africa and New Zealand. According to New Zealand Cricket, the Kiwi player has a grade two lower tear.

The blackcaps have replaced Matt Henry with Kyle Jamieson in the squad.  “Matt Henry has been ruled out of the Cricket World Cup 2023 with a torn right hamstring and has been replaced in the squad by Kyle Jamieson. An MRI scan confirmed he has a grade two lower tear which will require at least 2 to 4 weeks to recover from WC,” New Zealand Cricket confirmed on X.

On November 4 in Bengaluru, New Zealand will play their eighth World Cup 2023 match against Pakistan. Fast Bowler Matt Henry, who has been ruled out of the entire competition, will no longer be available to the Kiwis.

The Blackcaps are facing injury issues concerns to key players. Jamieson had earlier been called in as Henry’s cover after he pulled a hamstring, injuries also plague Lockie Ferguson, James Neesham, Mark Chapman, and Kane Williamson.

On November 4, New Zealand will play Pakistan at M. Chidambaram stadium in Bengaluru. Pakistan will now compete with the Blackcaps for a spot in the semi-finals of the tournament after they had lost their last three games.
