Kieron Pollard, the former West Indian all-rounder, has been announced as the replacement captain for Rashid Khan in MI Cape Town for the upcoming SA20 tournament, starting on January 10. Rashid, initially named skipper, is still recovering from an injury, leading to Pollard’s appointment.
Regarding Rashid’s absence, the MI Cape Town franchise stated, “Rashid Khan is currently unavailable due to his ongoing recovery from injury. We wish Rashid a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the field soon,” in a media release.
Despite Rashid being named in Afghanistan’s T20I squad touring India, his availability remains uncertain due to his injury status.
MI Cape Town will commence their campaign against Durban SuperGiants on January 11. Noteworthy players like Kagiso Rabada, Rassie van der Dussen, Sam Curran, Jofra Archer, and Liam Livingstone bolster the Cape Town side.
In a separate announcement, MI Emirates has appointed West Indian batter Nicholas Pooran as their captain for the ILT20.
