Karthik Sharma Powers CSK To 187 Against LSG In IPL Clash

Chennai Super Kings scored 187 for 5 after being asked to bat first by Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

A strong innings from Karthik Sharma played a key role in guiding the team to a competitive total.

Chennai Super Kings struggled at the start, losing three wickets within the first 7.2 overs for just 52 runs.

Sanju Samson scored 20, Ruturaj Gaikwad managed 9, and Urvil Patel departed for 6, leaving the side under pressure.

Karthik Sharma steadied the innings alongside Dewald Brevis with a crucial 70-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Batting at number four, Sharma struck 71 runs off 42 deliveries, including five sixes and six fours, registering his second half-century of the season.

Brevis contributed a brisk 25 off 16 balls but failed to convert his start into a substantial score.

Shivam Dube and Prashant Veer accelerated the scoring towards the end, adding 45 runs in the final four overs.

The last over, bowled by Prince Yadav, went for 23 runs, with Dube hitting two sixes and two fours in the closing deliveries.

Dube remained unbeaten on 32 off 16 balls, while Prashant Veer added 13 not out from 10 deliveries.

For Lucknow Super Giants, Akash Maharaj Singh impressed with figures of 3 for 26 in four overs. He removed Samson, Gaikwad, and Patel to put CSK’s top order under early pressure.

Mohammed Shami and Shahbaz Ahmed claimed one wicket each.

Prince Yadav conceded 49 runs in his four overs without taking a wicket. Mayank Yadav bowled economically but could not pick up a wicket, finishing with figures of 0 for 26.

With a target of 188 on the board, Chennai Super Kings will rely on their bowlers to defend the total, while Lucknow Super Giants will look to chase it down with a strong batting performance.
