IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal on Thursday lauded Team India for their T20 World Cup triumph, praising the Men in Blue for their hard work.
India won the T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa in a nail-biting final last week, winning by seven runs. This victory ends a 17-year wait for the country’s second T20 world title.
Additionally, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the team broke an 11-year drought of major titles since their last victory in the 2013 Champions Trophy.

“The way India played in the T20 World Cup was phenomenal. They worked really hard for it. We also had a good run in the ODI World Cup, though we unfortunately lost one game. But now the team is World Champion and we are all so proud of them,” Arun Dhumal told IANS.
This win marks India’s fourth World Cup title overall, following victories by Kapil Dev’s team in 1983, MS Dhoni’s squad in the 2007 T20 World Cup, and the ODI championship in 2011.
The team had a felicitation meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, reinforcing the national pride in their accomplishment. Subsequently, they departed for Mumbai, where festivities continued with a vibrant victory parade from Nariman Point to Wankhede Stadium, culminating in a ceremonial event to honor their triumph.
Despite the initial setbacks caused by adverse weather conditions, the resilience and spirit of the Indian cricket team prevailed, marking their return with jubilant celebrations and a warm reception from fans and dignitaries alike.
