Punjab Kings (PBKS) rode on blistering knocks from Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly to post a mammoth 254/7 against Lucknow Super Giants in their Indian Premier League 2026 clash on Sunday.
Playing at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, PBKS delivered a breathtaking batting performance led by a 182-run second-wicket stand between Arya and Connolly, dismantling LSG’s bowling attack.
Arya was the aggressor, smashing 93 off just 37 balls with four boundaries and nine sixes, bringing up his half-century in only 19 deliveries.
Connolly, after a slow start, found rhythm to score 87 off 46 balls, including eight fours and seven sixes, reaching his fifty in 35 balls.
The duo’s assault peaked in the 13th over, when they took Aiden Markram for 32 runs, hitting five sixes.
Mohammed Shami had earlier given LSG a strong start by dismissing Prabhsimran Singh for a duck, but the momentum quickly shifted.
Connolly eventually fell to Prince Yadav for 87, while Arya missed out on a century, dismissed for 93 by Manimaran Siddharth, with Mitchell Marsh taking the catch.
A brief middle-order wobble saw Shreyas Iyer and Nehal Wadhera depart quickly, but late fireworks from Marcus Stoinis (29 off 16) and Shashank Singh (17 off 6) ensured PBKS crossed the 250 mark.
Shashank struck 20 runs in the final over, bowled by Shami, while Stoinis was run out off the last ball.
LSG now face a daunting chase at a required rate of 12.75 per over.
Brief Scores:
Punjab Kings 254/7 in 20 overs (Priyansh Arya 93, Cooper Connolly 87; Prince Yadav 2-25, M Siddharth 2-35).
