IPL 2026: KKR Beat LSG In Super Over Thriller, Rinku Singh Seals Win

In the 38th match of the Indian Premier League 2026, Kolkata Knight Riders secured a thrilling Super Over victory against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Chasing a modest Super Over target of two runs, Rinku Singh finished the contest with a boundary off the very first delivery.

KKR posted 155 for seven in their 20 overs after being put in to bat. In response, LSG matched the total with 155 for eight, forcing the game into a Super Over.

KKR entrusted Sunil Narine with the Super Over, and he made an immediate impact by clean bowling Nicholas Pooran off the opening ball. Rishabh Pant managed a single on the next delivery.

On the third ball, Aiden Markram attempted an aggressive shot, but Rovman Powell produced outstanding fielding near the boundary, combining with Rinku Singh to turn a potential six into a catch. LSG managed only one run in the Super Over.

Earlier, while chasing 156, LSG lost Mitchell Marsh early for 2 runs. Markram and captain Rishabh Pant stabilised the innings with a 57-run partnership. Markram scored 31 from 27 balls, while Pant contributed 42 off 38 deliveries, including four boundaries and one six.

Nicholas Pooran continued his poor run, scoring just 9 runs. Mukul Chaudhary fell cheaply, while Ayush Badoni added 24 runs. George Linde scored 8 before being dismissed by Vaibhav Arora.

In the final over, LSG required 17 runs. Mohammed Shami struck a crucial six off the last ball to level the scores and push the match into a Super Over, remaining unbeaten on 11 off 6 balls.

Earlier in the match, KKR’s batting effort saw captain Ajinkya Rahane score 10, while Tim Seifert departed without scoring. Angkrish Raghuvanshi managed 9, and Rovman Powell added just 1 run.

Cameron Green contributed 34 off 21 balls. In the closing stages, Rinku Singh played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 83 runs from 51 balls, including seven boundaries and five sixes. He also shared a vital 62-run partnership with Sunil Narine (not out 4).

For LSG, Mohsin Khan delivered an impressive spell, taking five wickets for 23 runs in four overs. George Linde picked up one wicket.

Despite Mohsin Khan’s strong performance, Rinku Singh’s match-winning innings ensured KKR secured victory in a closely contested encounter.
