IPL 2026: Delhi Capitals End Season With Dominant Win Over KKR

Delhi Capitals signed off their Indian Premier League 2026 campaign with a convincing 40-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in their final league fixture at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

With Rajasthan Royals already sealing the last playoff berth earlier in the day, the match carried little consequence beyond pride.

After losing the toss, Delhi Capitals posted an imposing total of 203 for five.

Openers Abhishek Porel and KL Rahul provided a steady start, putting together 40 runs in just 27 balls. Porel contributed 22 runs before departing, after which Sahil Parakh joined Rahul to add 47 runs for the second wicket.

Rahul continued his aggressive approach, stitching a quick 38-run stand with captain Axar Patel. He led the innings with an impressive 60 off 30 deliveries, striking four sixes and five boundaries.

Axar Patel and David Miller further strengthened the innings with a 41-run partnership, guiding the side to a formidable total.

In response, Kolkata Knight Riders began confidently, with Ajinkya Rahane and Finn Allen adding 43 runs in the opening overs. Allen scored a brisk 20, while Rahane anchored the innings with a well-made 63 off 39 balls.

Rahane also shared crucial partnerships with Manish Pandey and Rovman Powell, but regular wickets hampered KKR’s momentum.

Kuldeep Yadav struck a decisive blow by dismissing Rahane and Rinku Singh in successive deliveries, narrowly missing a hat-trick.

Despite Powell’s late effort of 29 runs, KKR were bowled out for 163 in 18.4 overs, falling short of the target.

Kuldeep Yadav and Lungi Ngidi led Delhi’s bowling attack with three wickets each, while Mitchell Starc picked up two. For KKR, Saurabh Dubey was the standout bowler with two wickets.

Delhi Capitals concluded their season with seven wins from 14 matches, finishing sixth in the standings. Kolkata Knight Riders ended just behind them in seventh place, with six victories from their campaign.
