Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer Ishant Sharma has been fined 25% of his match fees and penalized with one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
The incident occurred during the match between Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad, where Ishant Sharma admitted to committing a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct.
The BCCI’s official statement confirmed that the fast bowler accepted the Match Referee’s sanction, stating, “For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.”
Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct pertains to actions involving the abuse of cricket equipment, clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures.
It also includes actions outside of normal cricket behavior, such as damaging the wickets or deliberately causing harm to advertising boards, boundary fences, or other fixtures.
Despite Ishant Sharma’s penalty, the Gujarat Titans celebrated their hat-trick of wins, climbing to second place in the IPL 2025 points table after a convincing seven-wicket victory over SRH.
GT’s bowling unit, led by Player of the Match Mohd.
Siraj dominated the outing. Siraj delivered a career-best performance, taking 4 wickets for 17 runs, which helped restrict SRH to a total of 152/8.
Although GT’s bowling attack was highly effective, Ishant Sharma struggled on the field.
He was the most expensive bowler for GT in the match, going wicketless while conceding 53 runs in his four overs.
Captain Shubman Gill led the chase for the Gujarat Titans, scoring an unbeaten 60 off 42 balls.
Washington Sundar and Sherfane Rutherford played vital supporting roles, guiding GT to a successful chase of 153 with 20 balls to spare.
The Titans’ victory extended their winning streak and kept them in contention for the top spots in the tournament.
