The Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to crown a first-time champion on Tuesday, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) face off against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Both franchises have competed in the IPL since its inception in 2008, yet neither has managed to lift the coveted trophy.
RCB have reached three finals — in 2009, 2011, and 2016 — while Punjab Kings came closest in 2014, when they finished as runners-up.
Now, with a title within touching distance, anticipation among fans is at fever pitch.
The encounter promises to be a thrilling contest between two sides desperate to break their title drought.
However, the weather may yet influence proceedings. According to AccuWeather, temperatures in Ahmedabad will hover around 36°C at the start of the match, dipping to approximately 31°C by the end.
Humidity is expected to remain high, between 52% and 63%, with cloudy skies prevailing throughout the evening.

Although forecasts predict only a 2% to 5% chance of rain during the game, even a brief shower could disrupt the final’s flow.
Should rain halt play on Tuesday, organisers have set aside Wednesday as a reserve day for the final.
If rain washes out both days, the organisers will crown Punjab Kings as champions for finishing higher in the table.
This would not be the first time Ahmedabad hosts a weather-affected IPL final. In 2023, rain forced the postponement of the match initially scheduled for 28 May.
The game resumed the next day, though persistent showers led to a reduced second innings of just 15 overs.
That final saw Ravindra Jadeja hit the winning runs off the last ball, sealing Chennai Super Kings’ fifth title and denying hosts Gujarat Titans a second consecutive trophy.
Despite the looming weather threat, all eyes remain on Ahmedabad as RCB and PBKS prepare for a historic showdown.
With form, hunger, and legacy on the line, fans are hoping that this long-awaited moment delivers the finale the tournament deserves.
