IPL 2025 Auction: Bhuvneshwar Kumar Headlines Day 2 With Rs 10.75 Crore Move To RCB

Bhuvneshwar Kumar stole the spotlight on Day 2 of the IPL 2025 Auction. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured the pacer for Rs 10.75 crore at the Abadi Al Johar Arena in Jeddah on Monday.

The bidding began at his base price of Rs 2 crore. Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) battled intensely before RCB swooped in with the winning bid. Bhuvneshwar, who started his IPL journey with RCB in 2009, returns to the franchise after a decade of playing for other teams. He has 181 wickets in 176 IPL matches, making him one of the league’s most reliable pacers.

Top Buys in the IPL 2025 Capped Bowlers Auction

Mumbai Indians bolstered their bowling arsenal with the purchase of Deepak Chahar for Rs 9.25 crore. MI outbid Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to add Chahar to their squad, joining Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult.

Akash Deep, a former RCB player, went to Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 8 crore after a fierce bidding war involving Punjab Kings, CSK, and LSG. Rajasthan Royals acquired Tushar Deshpande for Rs 6.50 crore, beating CSK in an intense bidding contest.

Delhi Capitals retained Mukesh Kumar for Rs 8 crore using their Right to Match (RTM) option. Punjab Kings initially won the bid, but DC exercised their right to keep the pacer.

Other Notable Picks

Gujarat Titans secured South African pacer Gerald Coetzee for Rs 2.40 crore. Punjab Kings signed New Zealand speedster Lockie Ferguson at his base price of Rs 2 crore, with RCB opting not to use their RTM option.

In the capped spinners’ category, MI purchased Afghanistan’s Allah Ghazanfar for Rs 4.80 crore. However, spinners like Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Adil Rashid, and Keshav Maharaj went unsold.

The IPL 2025 capped bowlers auction saw intense bidding wars, with teams making strategic moves to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season.
