Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Indian women’s team, has been punished for two international games after violating the ICC’s code of conduct twice. Both incidences happened on Saturday during Bangladesh’s third game of the ICC Women’s Championship series.
Kaur “expressed frustration” at being dismissed by hitting the wickets with her bat in the first instance. In the 34th over of India’s inning, she was determined to have been caught at slip off spinner Nahida Akter.
Due to her first offence of violating article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision,” Kaur was fined 50% of her match fee and given three demerit points on her disciplinary record.

The second violation occurred when Kaur loudly attacked the game’s umpire during the awards ceremony following the match.
She was also given one demerit point on her disciplinary record and fined 25% of her match fee for this infringement, which was classified as a Level 1 penalty for “public criticism in relation to an incident occurring in an international match”.
Kaur acknowledged the violations and consented to the punishments Akhtar Ahmed of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees had suggested. There was no need for a formal hearing as a result.
Kaur’s ban from one Test match, two ODIs, or two T20Is, whichever comes first for the team, was the result of the accumulation of four demerit points from the offences, which were translated to two suspension points in Kaur’s case. This might cost Women’s Cricket Team a lot in terms of the game that will be played in future. Captain plays a crucial role in managing the team. They bring out the best in all the players.
