Indian Athletes Are The Icons Of Today, Tomorrow And Forever: Nita Ambani

India’s top Olympic athletes received a rousing welcome at the inaugural ceremony of India House at the Paris Olympics with host Nita Ambani facilitating them. This first-ever India House marks a historic milestone, showcasing Indian culture, arts, sports, technology, and gastronomy. The Reliance Foundation, in partnership with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), conceptualized this initiative to present India’s rich heritage to the world.

Athletes such as bronze medal winner Sarabjot Singh, Rohan Bopanna, Sharath Kamal, Manika Batra, and Arjun Babuta joined the celebrations at India House. Mrs. Nita M. Ambani, IOC member and Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, welcomed the athletes, saying, “Welcome to the first-ever India House at the Olympics! Every single one of you has made us hold our heads higher with pride.”

Nita Ambani also congratulated Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh for winning medals in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. “A special shout-out to Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh, who made us proud by winning India’s second medal this morning. Sarabjot Singh is here with us today; let’s give him a standing ovation, please,” she added.

Athletes receive a grand welcome

The athletes received a grand welcome with the beats of the dhol during a guard of honor and a traditional Indian tikah ceremony. They included medal-winning shooter Sarabjot Singh, flag bearer Sharath Kamal, former world no. 1 doubles player Rohan Bopanna, Sumit Nagal, 14-year-old Dhinidhi Desinghu, Manika Batra, Ramita Jindal, and Arjun Babuta.

They lit the digital flame at India House to show their support for the Olympic movement before Mrs. Ambani felicitated them. The athletes enjoyed live music, a sumptuous food spread, and met with fans. Both Indian and international fans have been reveling in the unique experiences at India House, which has seen heavy attendance daily, drawn by its grandeur and vivacity.
