India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI: Team India’s encouraging performance witnesses series win with 2-0

India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI: After winning T20 series against the visitors, Team India gained the second four wickets win in the fifty-over game in Kolkata.

At Eden Gardens KL Rahul’s fifty not out helped India beat Sri Lanka by four wickets. Previously on January, 10, 2023 during the first ODI against the tigers, India convincingly won by 67 runs in Guwahati.

In the second One Day International contest against Sri Lanka, India continued its winning spree. Winning the toss Sri Lanka opted for batting first at the Indian Lords ground in Kolkata, Eden Gardens.

After bowling out all wickets of the visitors for a mere 215 runs. Chasing the not-a-big total India reached the target only in 43.3 overs losing 6 wickets.

As was not really expected KL Rahul after a long time showed some glimpses of the form which witnessed a gutsy half-century. Anchoring Team India to a hard-earned 4-wicket victory in the second ODI, the vice-captain assured the team of a constant performance ahead.

On a difficult track, KL Rahul’s an unbeaten 64 runs off 103 balls was also assuring against the questions on Team India’s top-order instability. This was the effort made by him, was badly required for chasing down an okay level target of 216-runs.

As expected vice-captain Hardik Pandya was seen attentively serious to his responsibility and making a needed partnership with KL Rahul he helped the team reach its target. In the contest, this 36 run by Pandya was the second-highest score for India where prior to Indian side batting, Sri Lanka were all out in 39.4 overs for 215 runs which included a fifty run support by debutant Nuwanido Fernando.

Indian bowling performance saw Mohammed Siraj (3/30) and Kuldeep Yadav (3/51) contributing with good performance being the most successful bowlers in the match for the hosts.

Let us have a look over the brief score of Sri Lankan side with a total of 215 runs all out in 39.4 overs where 50 runs by Nuwanidu Fernando, 34 runs by Kusal Mendis were the significant batting performance.

India while chasing made 219 for 6 wickets in 43.2 overs where 64 runs by KL Rahul and 36 by Hardik Pandya were the top scores. Sri Lankan bowling was not too impressive where Lahiru Kumara too 2 wickets giving 64 runs and Chamika Karunaratne had 2 wickets on his name giving 51 runs.
