IND vs PAK
According to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), all four teams competing in the Super Four stage of the tournament—India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka—were consulted before the reserve day for the high-profile Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan was added. This follows concerns expressed by the head coaches of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka on the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) decision to add a reserve day for the India-Pakistan matchup during the Asia Cup Super Four stage.
“A reserve day has been added for the India-Pakistan match in the Asia Cup Super 4 stage, thus revising the playing conditions for the tournament. To be clear, the decision was made with the approval of the ACC and the four participating teams, the BCB tweeted.
The Asia Cup Super 4 stage reserve day for the India-Pakistan match was decided in cooperation with the four-member boards of the contending teams. In order to implement the agreed-upon adjustment, the ACC effectively altered the tournament’s playing rules. #AsiaCup2023.”
The match between India and Pakistan, which will take place on Sunday at the R Premadasa stadium in Colombo, had a reserve day confirmed earlier on Friday.
Without holding back, Chandika Hathurasingha, the coach of Bangladesh, stated that the choice was not “ideal” because even they would have liked a reserve day.
“Each of the six competing countries is represented on the technical committee for the Asia Cup. They may have made the choice for another reason. At the pre-game press conference on Friday, the Bangladesh coach remarked,
“It’s not ideal because we also would have loved to have an extra day.
