Key Highlights: IND vs. AUS

Winning the toss and choosing to bat first, the Australian team scored a total of 269 runs in 49 overs. On the other hand, Zampa and Agar helped Australia fight back in the middle overs to break the back of India’s batting on a slow pitch with difficult stroke play. India was bowled out for 248 in 49.1 overs, despite Mitchell Starc’s wicketless performance.

Though India put on a 65-run opening partnership, it lost four wickets for 43 runs after Virat Kohli and KL Rahul put on 69 runs for the fourth wicket.

In addition, it meant that Australia became the new top-ranked team in the 50-over format, and India lost a bilateral ODI series at home after four years, despite having a 1-0 lead.

The Australian Show

After that, despite India’s quick start, the bowlers kept going. Their two spinners, Adam Zampa, and Ashton Agar, took six wickets each to bring India back to 65 for 0 and 146 for 2. The fact that Marcus Stoinis replaced Cameron Green as Australia’s fifth bowler made the defense even more impressive. Stoinis, on the other hand, was a revelation, bowling just 9.1 overs for 43 runs and a wicket.
