Immediate Goal Is Strong Junior Grand Slam Performances; Says Maaya Revathi

Rising Indian tennis prospect Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi continues her measured ascent on the global circuit as she competes at the ITF Women’s Open W100 Bengaluru.

The 16-year-old from Coimbatore exited the singles main draw in the opening round after a three-set defeat to fifth seed Polina Iatcenko.

However, she remains active in the doubles event. She has teamed up with compatriot and close associate Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamidipaty.

The duo overcame an all-Indian pairing to secure a quarterfinal berth.

Maaya has recently featured in professional tournaments in Mumbai and Pune.

Her regular appearances at higher-level events underline her expanding experience.

She built her foundation in India before refining her game at the Rafa Nadal Academy.

She began playing tennis in Coimbatore at a young age with strong parental backing.

Steady Growth Phase

Access to structured coaching helped her transition from casual participation to serious competition. She started focusing intently on the sport at 10.

Winning the Under-12 National title in 2022 marked a turning point. She realised her potential and developed a deeper belief.

Maaya Revathi later entered the ITF junior circuit and compiled a 25-match winning streak. She clinched four consecutive titles and reached major quarterfinals and semifinals.

Victory at a J300 event in Delhi strengthened her pathway towards the junior Grand Slams.

Despite her singles setback in Bengaluru, she views the phase as constructive.

She prioritises exposure to stronger opponents and sustained physical and mental development. She believes rankings will improve with consistency.

Bengaluru holds personal significance for her. She played her first Under-10 tournament there.

Although she lost in the first round, she cherished the experience. She later produced notable Under-14 results on the same courts.

Looking ahead, she will resume training at the Rafa Nadal Academy and intensify clay-court preparation.

With the French Open approaching, she aims to excel at the junior Grand Slams and elevate her competitive standing.
