Harbhajan Singh Dismisses Comparison Between MS Dhoni & Mohammad Rizwan

In a recent social media exchange, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh strongly criticized a comparison made between former Indian captain MS Dhoni and Pakistan’s wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan.

The comparison, initiated by Pakistani cricket fan and journalist Farid Khan, sparked a heated response from Harbhajan.

The Controversial Post

Farid Khan, known for his involvement with the Pakistan Cricket Board, Pakistan Super League, Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024, and T10 Global League, took to X to pose a question to his followers.

“MS Dhoni or Mohammad Rizwan? Who is better? Tell me honestly.”

Farid, who claims to be Pakistan’s most engaging sports content creator on the platform however ignited a debate that quickly drew Harbhajan’s ire.

Harbhajan’s Fiery Response

Harbhajan did not hold back in his response to the comparison. “What r u smoking nowadays ???? What a silly question to ask . Bhaiyo isko batao . DHONI bhut aage hai RIZWAN se Even if u will ask Rizwan he will give u an honest answer for this . I like Rizwan he is good player who always play with intent.. but this comparison is wrong. DHONI no 1 even today in world cricket . None better thn him behind stumps,” Harbhajan responded emphatically.

Dhoni vs Rizwan

MS Dhoni’s illustrious career boasts impressive statistics. In 90 Test matches, Dhoni claimed 256 catches and 38 stumpings. His One-day International (ODI) career includes 321 catches and 123 stumpings in 350 matches. With the bat, Dhoni scored 4,876 runs in Tests at an average of 38.09, including six centuries and 33 fifties.

Meanwhile, in contrast, Mohammad Rizwan’s career, though promising, has not yet reached the same heights. In 30 Test matches, Rizwan has taken 78 catches and made three stumpings, while in 74 ODIs, he has recorded 76 catches and three stumpings. With the bat, Rizwan has scored 1,616 runs in Tests at an average of 40.4, including two centuries and nine fifties.

The debate over the comparison between Dhoni and Rizwan touches on broader discussions about cricketing legacies and the impact of individual players.
