Good news for the Indian cricket team and Rishabh Pant’s admirers and fans. The renowned wicketkeeper-batter is making remarkable progress with his health and soon will be discharged from Kokilaben hospital. The 25-year-old has been hospitalized since his horrific accident on December 30. But now spending a month in the hospital, he is getting better and is ready to go home. He had his first surgery on a torn ligament in the right knee. As per BCCI sources, he is making a remarkable recovery. “He is doing pretty great. It’s good news from the medical team. The first surgery was successful and that is what everyone wanted to hear. He will be discharged this week,” according to a senior BCCI official told InsideSport on Sunday.
He will have his second surgery on the torn ACL in his right knee. Because of that, he has to go back to the hospital again next month.
Pant tore all three ligaments on his right knee in the accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. His doctor in charge Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala and his team successfully rebuilt Pant’s posterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in a marathon three-hour surgery. But he will need further surgery for his anterior cruciate ligament in a month.
“He will need another surgery in about a month. Doctors will decide when it is right to have the 2nd surgery. BCCI Medical team is in constant touch with Dr Pardiwala and the hospital. We hope to see him back on the field soon,” the official continued.
