On Friday, the BBCI finally announced the Indian squad for the first two tests against the England team. Later this month, team India is all set to face England in a five-match test series. However, Mohammad Shami, team India’s fast bowler will be missing out on the series due to injury. But the addition of Uttar Pradesh’s Dhruv Jurel to the squad has made a big impact. Dhruv played an extraordinary innings by scoring 69 runs in the second match at Benoni. Talking about Jurel’s performance in the Ranji Trophy, he scored a total of 63 runs at Alappuzha. Jurel has so far scored a total of 790 runs in 15 matches with an average of 46. This includes a hundred and-five fifties as well
Coming from a humble background, Dhruv’s story is very inspiring.
This includes a hundred-and-five fifties as well.
During an interview, Dhruv Jurel said “I used to study in Army School. During the holidays I thought about joining cricket camp at Eklavya Stadium in Agra. I filled up the form but did not tell my dad. When he came to know, he scolded me. However, he borrowed Rs 800 to buy me a cricket bat. When I told him I needed a cricket kit, Dad asked me how much it would cost. I told him about Rs six to seven thousand and he told me to stop playing. But I was adamant and locked myself in the bathroom. Then my mom sold her gold chain and got me a cricket kit.”
“My friends told me that I got selected for the Indian team. When I told them that I had been selected, they asked me ‘Which Indian team I get selected?’ I told them Rohit bhaiya, Virat Bhaiya wala Indian team. My whole family got emotional after hearing this.”
