FIFA World Cup 2022: Portugal vs Switzerland witnesses a shocking defeat of Switzerland against Portugal where Ramos scores hat-trick helping Ronaldo sqaud enter quarter-finals.

FIFA World Cup 2022: Portugal vs Switzerland contest at the Lusail Stadium on Wednesday, saw Switzerland being badly defeated by the rivals. The decision of taking in Goncalo Ramos as the replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo in the Portugal side, proved fruitful. Ramos scored a hat-trick with hammering performance of the 2016 UEFA Euro winners, Switzerland lost the contest with a 6-1 during the Round of 16. . Ronaldo-led Portugal is now going to encounter Morocco on Saturday in the World Cup quarter-finals.

With Portugal’s Goncalo Ramos scoring his side’s opening goal, the Portugal squad got the first opportunity to celebrate with the teammates.

The fans around the world were shocked to see Cristiano Ronaldo being dropped from the starting line-up when in the Round of 16 encounter at the FIFA World Cup 2022 Switzerland locked horns with Portugal.

Proceeding towards a place in the Qatar World Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday, Ronaldo – minus  Portugal succeeded in thrashing Switzerland during the knockout phase at the Lusail Stadium.  Portugal head coach Fernando Santos decided to use Ronaldo s a late second-half substitute, who only scored 1 goal so far for Portugal in the FIFA World Cup group stage.

Looking at the the lead-up against the Swiss to the last 16 encounter, Ronaldo’s behaviour was openly condemned by Portugal coach Santos following the 37-year-old star footballer’s reaction while being substituted during the team’s final group game in Qatar.

Goncalo Ramos proved his coach right and after being replaced for Ronaldo in the Portugal side, scored a hat-trick and then the fans of the 2016 UEFA Euro winners hammering over Switzerland was applauded by the Portugal fans around the world. The 6-1 victory in the Round of 16 match at the Qatar World Cup is a big moral boost for Portugal. Ronaldo-led Portugal is now on Saturday going to meet Morocco for their World Cup quarter-final contest.
