The Delhi State Kabaddi Association has announced the launch of the inaugural Delhi Kabaddi League. President of Delhi state association, Ramesh Bidhuri informed about the launch on Saturday.
Speaking about the inaugural of the team, Ramesh Bidhuri said, “”Kabaddi is one of the oldest sports in India, and we are excited to launch the Delhi Kabaddi League, which will bring this beloved game to new heights in our capital city.”
Eight franchise-model teams, each named after a different region of the Capital, will participate in the Delhi Kabaddi League. The Delhi State Kabaddi Association will use a formal bidding process to establish franchises. The association will divide players from Delhi into groups based on their skill sets. The league will promote local talent and give athletes a stage on which to display their abilities.
former India kabaddi player Manjeet Chhillar, Ravindra Bhati, founder and CEO of 100 Sports Management Pvt. Ltd, and Rahul Sharma, director of 100 Sports Management Pvt. Ltd, joined the Bidhuri during the announcement.
Manjeet became the brand ambassador of Delhi Kabaddi. Niranjan Singh, MS Tyagi, Amar Singh Solanki, and Ramveer Singh were also present as special guests.
“I am honoured to be chosen as the brand ambassador of the Delhi Kabaddi League. I will do my utmost to promote the game of Kabaddi and contribute to its growth and success,” said Manjeet Chhillar.
The league promises intense competition with significant rewards for the winning teams. The winning team will get ₹5 lakh, the runner-up team will get ₹3 lakh, however, third and fourth-place teams will each get ₹1 lakh
