CSK vs MI IPL 2026: CSK Thrash MI By 103 Runs, Ruturaj Gaikwad Dedicates Win To Mukesh Choudhary

Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad dedicated his side’s dominant 103-run win over the Mumbai Indians to teammate Mukesh Choudhary, who played shortly after the passing of his mother.

Both teams wore black armbands during their Indian Premier League 2026 encounter at Wankhede Stadium.

After the match, Gaikwad stated, “Pretty tough on him (Mukesh Choudhary), I would dedicate this win to him. All glory to him. Everyone chipped in and wanted to be there for him. Feels good (on the win).”

After choosing to bat, CSK produced a powerful display to post 207/6. Sanju Samson led the charge with a superb unbeaten 101, while useful contributions throughout the order ensured a daunting total.

In reply, Mumbai never found their footing and were bowled out for 104 in 19 overs. Akeal Hosein was the standout performer with four wickets, with Noor Ahmad offering key support.

Reflecting on the toss, Gaikwad said the call came down to instinct.

“My gut feeling wanted me to bat first. Sanju and I said that it wasn’t coming on nicely,” he further noted.

Gaikwad underlined the importance of contributions across the batting line-up.

“Everyone chipped in really well. Even the 20s helped. Sanju played a magnificent knock and took us home,” he stated.

Gaikwad also highlighted Choudhary’s early breakthrough.

“Mukesh to Quinton de Kock, that set the momentum. He started really well,” he further said.

Speaking on the team’s bowling strength and overall balance, Gaikwad said, “It’s a blessing to have Akeal and Noor. Everyone is settling. Everyone is calm and composed.”

Looking at the bigger picture, Gaikwad expressed confidence in the side’s progress.

“Have been doing well; it’s just starting to click. We are trying to cover all the bases. We start from zero, it’s about assessing,” he further said.

With the win, Chennai Super Kings move up to fifth place with six points from seven matches. They are set to take on the Gujarat Titans on April 26.
