BCCI’s Jay Shah Invited By PCB for 2023 Asia Cup Opener In Pakistan

2023 Asia Cup in Pakistan,  will begin on August 30 and run until September 1. The BCCI and PCB agreed to a hybrid concept for the continental competition in response to the Indian government’s stance amid the political tension between the two adjacent countries.

Pakistan’s cricket matches split: local hosts, Sri Lanka venue

“Lahore and Multan will host four matches while the rest of the tournament shifts to Sri Lanka due to India’s refusal. Originally, Pakistan was the primary host, but now Sri Lanka steps in as an alternate location. The PCB has invited Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI and president of the ACC, to the opening match between Pakistan and Nepal, scheduled in Multan two weeks from the tournament’s commencement.”

The PCB reported that they invited Shah and other ACC cricket organization leaders to the game, as per a PTI report. In fact, a highly knowledgeable PCB source stated that they did not actually anticipate the ACC chairman visiting Pakistan when they extended the invitation to him.

PCB invited Jay Shah; conflicting reports surface

The source stated, “The PCB has essentially executed the invitation, which Chairman Zaka Ashraf verbally extended to Jay Shah during their meeting in Durban for the ICC conference.”

According to the article, Shah admitted that he did accept the offer, in contrast to what Pakistani media had said, leaving PCB leaders in a state of shock. “The PCB was obviously embarrassed after the Pakistani media reported that Jay Shah had accepted Zaka Ashraf’s invitation and the Indian board official later flatly denied this,” the man added.

2023 Asia Cup: dual hosting, key matches revealed

Four locations will host games during the 2023 Asia Cup from August 30 to September 17. Pakistan will see action in four matches: one in Multan and three at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
