BCCI Announces ₹7.5 Crore Cash Reward For India U-19 World Cup Winners

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed a cash incentive amounting to Rs 7.5 crore for the Indian Under-19 men’s side that lifted the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup. The reward will also cover the team’s technical staff and the national junior selection committee, according to BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia.

Saikia said that the BCCI has finalised the total reward, while officials are still deciding how to distribute the prize money among the players, support staff, and selectors.

“Heartiest congratulations to the Indian U-19 Men’s team on their glorious unbeaten run and triumph at the ICC U19 World Cup in Harare, defeating England by 100 runs,” Devajit Saikia posted on X.

“A cash award of Rs 7.5 crore will be given to the Indian team who won the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in Zimbabwe and Namibia. We are working on the details of the prize amount break-up for players, technical staff and the selection committee, but Rs 7.5 crore is the total reward for them from the BCCI,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia noted.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Headlines Dominant Final Performance

Fourteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi led India’s commanding final performance with a remarkable century, laying a strong foundation for a massive total.

Skipper Ayush Mhatre contributed a steady 53, while wicketkeeper Abhigyan Kundu added 40 runs as India amassed 411/9.

England showed early intent during the chase, but their innings faltered in the middle overs.

Despite a fighting 115 from Caleb Falconer, the target proved too steep, allowing India to cruise to a comprehensive victory.

With this success, India completed an exceptional double by holding both the ICC Under-19 Men’s and Women’s World Cup titles at the same time.

Saikia praised the achievement as evidence of a strong developmental framework, competitive domestic cricket, and sustained investment in young talent.

The BCCI secretary also said that the board will soon announce the central contracts for senior men’s and women’s players, underscoring its commitment to strengthening Indian cricket at every level.
