The Bangladesh Cricket Board lauded the national side after it achieved a milestone ODI series win against Australia.
The governing body hailed the accomplishment as a memorable moment and applauded the team for delivering a commanding performance in front of home supporters.
Australia opted to bat first after winning the toss in the rain-curtailed 42-over encounter at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.
Bangladesh’s pace attack made an immediate impact as Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman dismantled the Australian top order.
The visitors crashed to 0 for 3 inside two overs, with Matthew Short, Cooper Connolly, and Matt Renshaw all dismissed without opening their accounts.
Despite the early collapse, Australia fought back through a crucial seventh-wicket stand between Marnus Labuschagne and Xavier Bartlett. Labuschagne anchored the innings with an unbeaten 55, while Bartlett produced a rapid 52 to record his maiden ODI fifty.
Josh Inglis chipped in with 34 runs, and Cameron Green added 25, helping Australia recover to 187 for 8.
Taskin returned figures of 3 for 27, while Mustafizur claimed 3 for 33 to cap an outstanding effort with the ball.
Bangladesh encountered a few tense moments during the chase despite useful contributions from Soumya Sarkar and Najmul Hossain Shanto, who scored 42 runs each.
The hosts found themselves under pressure at 44 for 5, but Towhid Hridoy and captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz combined to revive the innings.
Hridoy remained unbeaten on 40 and accelerated when it mattered most, while Miraz stayed calm at the other end with an unbeaten 20.
The pair guided Bangladesh safely to 195 for 5 in 35 overs, completing a five-wicket victory under the DLS method.
The result handed Bangladesh an unbeatable 2-0 lead and ensured a landmark ODI series triumph over the five-time world champions.
Australia 187/8 in 42 overs (Marnus Labuschagne 55*, Xavier Bartlett 52, Josh Inglis 34; Taskin Ahmed 3/27, Mustafizur Rahman 3/33) lost to Bangladesh 195/5 in 35 overs (Soumya Sarkar 42, Najmul Hossain Shanto 42, Towhid Hridoy 40*; Xavier Bartlett 1/23) by five wickets via DLS method.
