International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Jay Shah congratulated the Indian men’s T20 cricket team after it defeated Pakistan by 19 runs to win the gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 in Nagoya on Saturday.
Shah also acknowledged the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), participating teams and Japan Cricket for their contribution to the tournament.
“Nagoya and Japan have written a proud new chapter in cricket’s history. Congratulations to Team India on a campaign worthy of this moment, and heartfelt thanks to every competing nation, to the Olympic Council of Asia and organisers whose vision brought us here, and to the thousands of fans whose presence reminded us why cricket is so special anywhere in the world,” he wrote on X.

Shah attended the medal ceremony, where India received gold, Pakistan silver and Sri Lanka bronze.
India posted 211/6 after Abhishek Sharma smashed 61 off 28 balls and Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 51 from 22 deliveries.
Shivam Dube also contributed during the late surge, while Washington Sundar and Axar Patel played key all-round roles.
Pakistan mounted a strong chase, led by Hasan Nawaz’s 96 off 51 balls. However, India’s bowlers maintained their composure in the closing stages. Dube dismissed Nawaz with the final delivery as Pakistan finished on 192/6.
The victory gave India consecutive men’s Asian Games cricket gold medals. The Indian women’s team had earlier secured gold after defeating Sri Lanka in their final.
India’s triumph also marked another significant chapter for cricket at the Nagoya Games, with the sport attracting strong participation and support from fans.
Shah’s presence at the medal ceremony underlined the ICC’s engagement with the tournament and its organisers.
