In the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours clash in Dubai, Bangladesh stand-in captain Jaker Ali won the toss and chose to bowl first against India on Wednesday.
India has impressed so far in the tournament with their balanced top-order batting and strong bowling attack. Left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav currently tops the wicket-taking charts, while Abhishek Sharma leads the run-scoring tally.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, kicked off their Super Fours campaign with a victory over Sri Lanka, boosted by crucial half-centuries from Saif Hassan and Towhid Hridoy.
Although the fixture is not a must-win for either team, qualification for the final hangs in the balance. Bangladesh will have to cope without their regular captain, Litton Das, who has been ruled out due to an injury sustained in practice.
After winning the toss, Jaker Ali explained his decision and offered an update on Das’s absence.
“We decided to bowl first. Unfortunately, Litton got injured during practice and cannot play this crucial game. We are in good form as a team and will give our best. We aim to restrict India and chase the target. The pitch looks excellent for batting, and we have made four changes to our lineup,” he said.
India captain Suryakumar Yadav, after losing the toss, expressed satisfaction with the decision.
“We are happy to bat first. Our strategies have worked well in the last few games. The boys have played their part. The weather is pleasant, and we are fielding the same team as before. We will continue following our plans, and the results will follow,” he added.
