Amit Mishra Joins Delhi Capitals As Spin-Bowling Coach Ahead Of IPL 2027

Former Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra has joined Delhi Capitals as their spin-bowling coach ahead of IPL 2027.

The appointment marks his return to the franchise where he began his IPL journey in 2008.

Mishra, 43, retired from all forms of cricket in September 2025. He will take up his first coaching assignment in the league.

Speaking in a video shared by the franchise on Wednesday, Mishra expressed his happiness at starting his coaching career with Delhi Capitals.

“Dilli dilwallon ki hai,” he said, adding that he wanted to help bring happiness to fans who have waited years to see the team win the IPL title.

Delhi Capitals finished sixth in 2026 and have yet to win the tournament.

Mishra began his IPL career with a five-wicket haul in 2008. He subsequently claimed hat-tricks in 2011 and 2013, becoming the only bowler to record three hat-tricks in the league.

Mishra played 162 IPL matches between 2008 and 2024, taking 174 wickets at an economy rate of 7.37. He represented Delhi, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants.

Delhi Capitals have appointed former India captain Sourav Ganguly as their new head coach. The franchise has also made changes to its squad through the trade window.

They traded T Natarajan to Sunrisers Hyderabad and acquired leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari.

The franchise’s latest coaching appointments follow an arrangement between co-owners GMR Sports and JSW Sports to manage cricket operations in alternating two-year cycles.
