Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin has experienced some hardship. Ashwin was passed over for the World Test Championship final against Australia earlier this month despite being the No. 1 Test bowler and one of the top-10 wicket-takers in Test history. This came as a tremendous blow to the illustrious spinner. People frequently turn to peers in the same profession, most likely on the same team, for assistance during difficult times, in addition to their families. However, when questioned about it, Ashwin revealed a depressing truth about Indian cricket in the wake of the WTC final snub.
Veteran cricketers were incensed by Rohit Sharma, the captain, and head coach Rahul Dravid for choosing Ashwin over Umesh Yadav for the important final against Australia last week at The Oval. And the choice was much debated after India won the WTC for the second time in a row by 209 runs.
Ashwin’s initial response when asked in an interview with the Indian Express was, “It’s a deep topic.” He said that because of the fierce competition within the team for every position, the concept of friendship has fallen aside.

“Everyone is a colleague in this day and age. When cricket was played in the past, everyone on your team was a friend. They are now colleagues. There is a significant difference because individuals are in this situation. So no one has time to ask, “Okay, boss, what are you doing?” he said.
Ashwin opined that while it’s better for the team when players share their technique and journey. Nothing even remotely close to that happens in the Indian team. He summed it up by saying, “It’s an isolated journey”.
