“Ajeeb Si Betaabi Hai Tere Bin”: Shikhar Dhawan’s Heartfelt Post For Son After Divorce From Aesha Mukerji

Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan recently obtained a divorce from his estranged wife, Aesha Mukerji, on grounds of “cruelty.” The Delhi Court granted mandatory visitation rights to Mr. Dhawan, allowing him to meet his son in both India and Australia. Furthermore, the court ordered Ms. Mukerji to bring their son to India for visitation purposes.

In response to this development, Mr. Dhawan took to Instagram to share an emotional moment with his 10-year-old son, Zoravar, who is currently in Australia. He posted a screenshot of a video call with his son, where Zoravar can be seen wearing a hoodie, and Mr. Dhawan is smiling at him. Alongside the picture, Mr. Dhawan included a famous poem by Gulzar in the caption: “Ek Ajeeb Si Betaabi Hai Tere Bin, Reh Bhi Lete Hai Aur Raha Bhi Nahi Jaata.”

This heartfelt post garnered significant attention on social media, amassing 2.3 million views and over six lakh likes. Cricketer Harbhajan Singh reacted to the post with a red heart emoji, and many users expressed their support and well-wishes for Mr. Dhawan and his son.

Mr. Dhawan and Aesha Mukerji were married in 2012, and both Aesha and Zoravar are Australian citizens. Aesha had a previous marriage and has two daughters from her first husband. Family Court Judge Harish Kumar accepted Mr. Dhawan’s accusations of cruelty by his wife, as she couldn’t disprove the allegations. The judge noted that Mr. Dhawan had endured mental agony due to his wife’s actions, which had kept him in a “long-distance marriage” by residing in Australia and separating him from his son for an extended period.
