Cricket fans around have been touched by Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz after witnessing him giving money to homeless people at three in the morning.
Afghanistan emerged as the unexpected winners of the 2023 World Cup, making it to the final match of the tournament’s group stages and so into the championship game. With two fifties and a maximum score of 80, the 21-year-old Gurbaz had a respectable but unspectacular tournament totaling 280 runs at an average of 31.11
Although Afghanistan performed far better than expected at the World Cup, Gurbaz has demonstrated that, even at such a young age, he is aware that life is about much more than just cricket. Ahead of Diwali, the Festival of Lights, which is India’s biggest holiday of the year, Gurbaz, who has played two seasons of the Indian Premier League with the Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders, was seen giving money to homeless people in Ahmedabad.
Gurbaz was observed placing cash next to the homeless people as they slept in Ahmedabad, when Indian singer RJ Love Shah spotted him outside his house at three in the morning. On Sunday, the Afghan teams were scheduled to depart.
The footage was shared by the Kolkata Knight Riders, who said, “RJ Love Shah spotted @RGurbaz_21.”
Only hours before the Afghanistan squad went home after their touching World Cup trip came to an end on Friday night, he was quietly offering some love ahead of Diwali in the vicinity of his Ahmedabad house
