Adelaide, Australia’s New Years Game Tradation

Adelaide forecast’s for New Year’s Eve is a sunny top of 30C on Saturday, a low 17C overnight and a top of 36C on Sunday.

Adelaide’s biggest New Year’s Eve party will be at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night, with the Strikers taking on the Melbourne Stars in the biggest BBL game of the year. ​

Not only will fans see great cricket, the post-match show will feature The Temper Trap performing live, alongside a fireworks and lighting display.

It is the Strikers first match against the Stars in BBL|12 and they will be hoping to continue their win streak at home alive, having won their first two games of the season at Adelaide Oval.

Speaking ahead of the NYE match, Strikers international Rashid Khan said it was his favourite game of the year.

“It means a lot, I’m so lucky over the last five years I’ve been playing this New Year’s game and it’s always a special night of the year to play in this game, in front of the home crowd as well which makes it more special,” Rashid said.

“Everyone in the team, even the opposition team, is super excited about the night so we are looking forward to it and hopefully will have a great night.”

Suad Is All Set

A squad of 13 is available to play on NYE, as well as the match against the Hobart Hurricanes in Tasmania on Monday, January 2.

Strikers squad: Wes Agar, Harry Conway, Colin de Grandhomme, Adam Hose, Henry Hunt, Thomas Kelly, Rashid Khan, Chris Lynn, Ben Manenti, Harry Nielsen (wk), Matt Short, Peter Siddle (c), Henry Thornton

Opening bat Jake Weatherald is unavailable for these two games after his abdominal strain, but will be reassessed once the team returns from Hobart.
