In the first Mann ki Baat of 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, “Indian women are working wonders in every field. Another area, where women have made their mark is self-help groups. Today, the number and scope of women’s self-help groups in the country have expanded substantially. The day is not far when ‘NaMo Drone Didiyan’ will be seen helping in farming through drones in the agricultural field in every village. I came to know about women preparing bio-fertilizers and bio-pesticides using local ingredients in Bahraich, UP. The women of Nibiya Begumpur Village associated with the self-help group prepare bio-fertilizers by mixing cow dung, neem leaves, and several medicinal plants. Similarly, these women also prepare organic pesticides… These women have formed an organisation named ‘Unnati Jaivik Ikai’, which helps these women in preparing bio-products. The demand for bio-products is continuously increasing., as a result of which, the income of women associated with these SHGs has increased, and their financial condition has improved.”
