Petition Filed In Supreme Court Demanding 33 Percent Reservation For Women In Lok Sabha And State Assemblies

Petition has been filed in the Supreme Court demanding 33 percent women’s reservation in Lok Sabha and state Assemblies. The Supreme Court issued a notice to the Central Government after hearing the petition. The apex court has also tagged the petition with the original petition.

Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Dr. Jaya Thakur has appealed to the Supreme Court to order the implementation of women’s reservation policy before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Thakur’s petition states that the provision of implementing the Nari Shakti Vandan Act 2023 after fresh delimitation should be removed.
