Congress MP Pramod Tiwari Raises Alarm Over Chief Election Commissioner Appointment Bill, Accuses BJP of Undermining Judiciary Trust

On Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Bill 2023 passed in the Rajya Sabha, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari says, “Justice should not be just done, it should be visible too. An Election Commission whose selection will be done by the Prime Minister and his Minister – they will have to answer if the government doesn’t trust Chief Justice of India and Supreme Court judges. They (Centre) are replacing them with their cabinet minister. This clearly shows that the BJP doesn’t trust its apex court. BJP can stoop to any level to win elections. This is alarming. We will sit and deliberate as to what to do about it.”
