Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam Enacted, Replacing Colonial-Era Laws

President Droupadi Murmu today gave her assent to the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam leglislations, three laws that will replace the existing colonial-era Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and the Evidence Act.Parliament passed the three Bills during the recently concluded winter session and shortly after two-thirds of opposition MPs were suspended for creating a ruckus in the House.
